Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to Improve My Roping – A 30 Day Trial

by Paul on August 16, 2010

Yesterday, we roped in Cranbrook. Simone won the heeling in the beginners roping. Caitlin got third in the heading for the beginners and won enough points to put her slightly in the lead for the overall series. I roped in the number 7 roping. I had two head with each of four partners. In the first round, I had one of four turned for me and I caught one heel. In the second round, I had two turned for me. I caught the first one, but rushed my shot and missed the second one. Had I caught the second one, my partner and I would have won money.

In the beginner roping, headers rope a steer and get 1 point for a legal catch, 1 point for a safe dally, 1 point for turning the steer and 1 point if the heeler catches. The headers each chose an experienced heeler to rope with them. Even though I’m not very experienced, Caitlin asked me to heel for her. She caught the steer, turned him well and I threw a nice loop in front of the legs, but I let my horse drift forward and he stepped into my loop, causing me to miss.

I am frustrated with my progress in heeling. I watch the videos, I rope the dummy most days, we rope three times a week, but I am not seeing much improvement. In my study of EFT, I have read many testimonials by people who have achieved great improvements in sports performance using EFT.

I’m going to do a 30 day trial using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to improve my roping. For more information on EFT, have a look at http://www.eftuniverse.com/. I first learned about 30 day trials from Steve Pavlina at http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/04/30-days-to-success/.

The next roping in Cranbrook is September 18th and 19th, 32 days from today. I plan to do several rounds of EFT on my roping each day between now and then ( okay, so technically, I’m doing a 32 day trial :) ).
